The story behind ASI's 2020 Style Awards theme 'In Full Bloom' as told by Founder, Lauren Di Bartolo.

"This year challenged us all and didn't leave much room for creative exploration, but it was the joy and passion I saw in our students that encouraged me to set time aside to release my personal creativity.⠀

I wanted to create something that represented the growth and resilience that comes from times of challenge.

The artwork we used is a project I undertook in lockdown that represented ‘In Full Bloom’ our theme that represented budding, blooming and the resilience required to get through the challenges of 2020... I began by styling and photographing my friend Nu, who as a front line health worker, represents strength and resilience before painting over Amelia Holland’s floral photos. I layered the photographs with the floral artworks and brush strokes. It was an important reminder to go within, for the solace to create, even in chaos.

This year has taught us that with a challenge, comes a rare opportunity to reflect, adapt and grow into a new stage of life. Much like a flower never stays the same through the process of budding and blooming.”
